I am sad today.  My belly is simmering, a pot with just enough heat to simmer, not boil.  Just above my pelvis, my uterus slowly clenches and unclenches, not enough to be painful, just a reminder it is there.  My intestines feel bloated with air, my stomach reminds me its hungry, even though I just ate.  These feelings, discomfort, travel up my spine and my brain processes them into worry/annoyance. I wonder if they mean anything more than that my body is gearing up for a period—is my cervix going to unfold, open and spill crimson petals, or are these pains going to coalesce, focus in on a tiny embryo?   The chances I am pregnant again are low, but my body chooses to tap tap tap at my mind just the same.  Do I feel like this every month and just not notice?  Or do these twinges represent something real?

We have an intern at work that is, I hate to say, just dumb.  Used to working with bright professionals, eager in their first years of work, being faced with a somewhat slow and young college kid is frustrating.  I am responsible for keeping him busy and trying to explain things to him is an exercise in patience and torturous.  He continually runs out of work, so my days lately revolve around trying to find a bit of time to get my own work down between torturous explanations of what he needs to be doing.  I tried to nicely explain the problem to my division manager this morning, but apparently didn’t state my case quite clearly enough as her response was to suggest yet another task for me to attempt to explain to him.  When it takes 15 min to explain the task to him, and 5 min to have done it yourself, you don’t gain either time or advantage by delegating.  I just wanted to cry in frustration when she suggested I give the task to him.
